Chiropractor Charlotte’s weekend at…

British Chiropractic Association Autumn Conference

“Chiropractic across the ages”

What an amazing weekend! Hosted at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole there was a full schedule of speakers, workshops, exhibitors and celebration.  After checking into my room on Friday I went for a run to clear my head and set me up for the weekend. I’ve always worn Asics but recently tried some Mizuno trail shoes from The Running Works and I am so impressed they are really comfortable.

Saturday Line Up

The stand out speakers for me were Tone Tellefsen Hughes (from Luck’s Yard Clinic), Jake Cook and Jesper Dahl (who has treated me for years). Tone talked passionately about chiropractic and the community. Jake refreshed our memories on assessing for balance and preventing falls, and Jesper gave us some Oscar winning performances of different walking habits relating to osteoarthritis in the hip.

In the afternoon I attended 2 workshops. The first was a continuation of Jesper Dahl’s presentation giving us some fantastic new ways to assess and treat the hip joint. The second was by Aurelie Marchand who is a lead lecturer at the AECC in paediatrics. She focussed on the examination of paediatric patients which was excellent.

Saturday Night – “The Greatest Social”

We were treated to a fantastic night. I got the chance to catch up with friends and colleagues from all over the country (and around the world). We celebrated reception teams, researchers and inspirational chiropractors. We were also given a performance from the talented band made up of BCA board members who were incredible!

Sunday Line Up

Will Fraser (a retired Saracens rugby player) talked openly about recovering from injury, and dealing with an accident which left his brother disabled.  He talked about the ability to “accept and adapt” which I thought was so relevant to chiropractors and our patients. Steve Williams gave us an insightful presentation on paediatrics, which tied in well with what we had done on Saturday.

Sunday Workshop

The weekend was rounded off with neck and arm pain and updated our knowledge on the safe and effective treatment.

It really was an inspiring weekend (and after 2 nights away I enjoyed my cuddles from the kids and a pub dinner when I got home).

Our Aldgate Chiropractors are always keeping up to date with knowledge and advancements in their field.
